A roll forming line converts steel coil into a continuous formed profile. Coil is uncoiled, fed through a series of forming stations that progressively shape the section, then cut to length and stacked. A roll forming line is normally built from the following equipment groups:

• Decoiler — holds and uncoils the steel coil, manual or hydraulic depending on coil weight.
• Feeding and levelling — flattens the strip before forming.
• Roll forming stations — progressive rollers shape the profile; tooling is specific to the profile.
• Cutting — hydraulic cutting to the required length.
• Run-out and stacking — supports and collects the finished profile.
• Control system — PLC length and quantity control.

A roll forming line requires a long, clear run of factory floor — the machine, the run-out table and finished stacking must all be accommodated in line.
