Juice Production Line

A juice production line takes fruit through washing and sorting, extraction, blending and heat treatment, then fills and packages the finished product. The configuration depends heavily on two decisions: whether you process fresh fruit or work from concentrate, and which fill method you use — hot fill, aseptic fill or cold fill. Those choices determine the heat treatment equipment, the filler and the packaging format.

This suits beverage producers entering the juice market and existing bottlers adding a product. Because fill method drives so much of the specification, it is normally the first thing established when a line is planned.

A juice line is normally built from the following equipment groups:

• Fruit handling — receiving, washing and sorting equipment where fresh fruit is processed.
• Extraction — crushing, pulping and extraction equipment.
• Filtration and blending — filtration, mixing and sugar dissolving.
• Heat treatment — pasteurisation or sterilisation matched to the fill method.
• Filling — liquid and bottle filling machines matched to product viscosity and fill temperature.
• Capping and labelling — closure application and label application.
• Bottle supply — PET blow moulding where bottles are produced in-house.

A juice line requires a hygienic production area, separated where necessary between raw fruit handling and filling. Floor space is required for processing, filling in sequence, and raw material and finished goods storage. Potable water, steam or hot water for heat treatment, and three-phase electrical supply are required. Specific requirements depend on the configuration and are confirmed in the technical proposal.
